Call for Storytellers: Queer Caribbean Narratives in Art

Jun 23, 2026 - Jul 23, 2026
Leslie-Lohman Museum of Art and The Generations Project invite Caribbean LGBTQ+ creatives to participate in a storytelling workshop and live performance.

Now in its third iteration, Queer Caribbean Narratives in Art: A Storytelling Show will take place Thursday, July 23, 6:30–8:30pm, in the context of Rocío García: The Object of Power is Power, curated by Carmen Maria Machado.

We are seeking storytellers of all ages, identities, and artistic disciplines to share original 5–7 minute pieces reflecting on their creative practices, queerness, and the layered intersections of Caribbean identity, memory, and expression.

Participants will be supported through a series of virtual zoom workshops led by The Generations Project in the 5 weeks leading up to the show, offering a collaborative and generative space to develop and refine stories. No prior writing or performance experience is required.

Workshops will take place Tuesdays, June 23, 30, July 7, 14, 21 from 5:30-7:30pm. Accommodations may be made if you are unable to attend all workshops so please share your availability. Storytellers will receive an honorarium.
